Mike Rogan is one of a select few players who made over 400 League and Cup appearances for Workington Reds.
He was a teenager when he made his League debut at Oldham after he had become Workington’s first ever apprentice professional a couple of years earlier.
Mike was recognised as one of the best young goalkeepers in the lower Leagues, which prompted a personal look by Bill Shankly. In the end he decided another young keeper fitted the bill – and signed Ray Clemence instead.
A non-smoking, non-drinking clean living young man, Mike spent his spare money on records and still has a large collection of records, along with football programmes, speedway programmes and treasured Charles Buchan Football Monthly magazines.
