Maryport and Kells A fought out an exciting 12-12 draw in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL.
It was as tight as the scoreline suggests with the sides locked in a 6-6 stalemate at half-time.
Danny Dryden and Liam Anderson scored tries which twice gave Maryport the lead but each time Kells came back to level matters up.
Blake Miller landed the two conversions for Maryport while Lewis McCartney and Dan Starkie crossed for Kells A and Kieran Fleming added the goals.
The pleasing thing for both clubs was that there were a good number of young players who showed-up prominently in a game well controlled by the senior referee Neil Byers.
The points were almost shared at Gillfoot where visiting Ellenborough A just pipped their hosts Egremont A 34-32.
As at Maryport there were plenty of youngsters showing their paces on each side and they earned high praise for their efforts and contribution to an exciting game to watch.
In the end it boiled down to six tries apiece and an extra goal from Rocco Okesene who kicked five. Egremont only managed four through Joe Bold (3) and Dillon Scott.
The Egremont A tries came from Jack Stainton, Jordan Baird, Jack Pae (2), Craig McCulloch and Scott.
Ellenborough A’s tries were scored by Okesene (2), Luke Broster (2), Tom Nixon and Ethan Charlton.
There was a good game, too, at Glasson Rangers where the home side led Wath Brow Hornets A 6-4 at half-time but eventually went down 26-16.
Luke Jackson, Luke Johnson and Shane Williams scored the Glasson tries with Johnson landing two conversions.
Wath Brow A hit back to collect the points through touchdown from Jack Meagan, James McCartney, James Dixon, Matty Creasy and Layton Dockwray. Jenson Olstrum landed three goals.
Perhaps the biggest surprise was the heavy defeat of fourth-placed Cockermouth Titans who were routed at home 54-0 by Lowca.
It was a commanding performance by Lowca as the Titans have been putting in good performances throughout the season.
They had the game virtually won at half-time, leading 34-0 and they went on to finish with ten tries and seven conversions from Jamie Scott.
The Lowca tries were scored by Mitchell Todd (3), Ashton Briscoe (2), Luke Stockton, Keith Campbell, Jamie Scott, James Taylor and Emerson Allen.
