A protest will be held against plans for a South Cumbrian holiday resort this weekend.
Objectors to the proposal for Roanhead Farm, near Askam, will meet in Barrow tomorrow, Saturday August 26, outside the town hall at 11am to hand over a 7,000-name petition against the scheme.
The resort has sparked controversy – as campaigners against it believe it would have an impact on the area’s ecology, cause traffic issues and have a huge detrimental impact on the area.
As well as the Save Roanhead Group, set up to oppose the plans, several nature charities have also objected to the resort.
The Save Roanhead Group will meet at 11am outside the town hall and hand over the petition to the mayor at noon.
Rose Campbell, one of the protesters, said: “We want to make sure our opposition is heard loud and clear. Come and join us. There will be banners, flags, music, our great team spirit and our chants of protest. We will be heard!”
