The West Cumbria Amalgamation will not compete again on a Saturday with tomorrow’s scheduled race from Cannock put back.
It means that so far in the young bird programme only once in six races have they had a Saturday liberation – and this week-end will make it seven.
But early decisions on race-days, after due consideration of weather forecasts, have generally been well-received with two Friday, two Monday and one Sunday used so far.
An Amalgamation spokesman said: “Due to the weather forecast in the north Staffordshire and Cheshire areas, predicting heavy rain most of the day, our race has been put back 24 hours.
“The forecast will be monitored and a decision will be made into what day we will hopefully get a race.”
Cannock, which is just under 150 miles into Workington, is a step up from the last two races which have both been from Appleton (Lymm) – 98 miles to Workington.
Looking at the Bank Holiday forecast Monday looks to give fanciers the best chance of a race but no decision has been made yet.
