There was penalty shoot-out agony for Barrow in their Lancashire Cup final date with Burnley Under-21s.
A trialist had turned in a corner from Elliot Newby in stoppage time to earn the Bluebirds a 1-1 draw.
But after the five minutes of added time the final went straight to penalties when Barrow’s newcomer Sam Bellis and Ged Garner had their spot-kicks saved.
Although Newby sent the Burnley keeper the wrong way to score, the Clarets continued to be accurate from the spot and won the trophy 4-1 on penalties.
Burnley had taken the lead on 31 minutes with a goal from Joe Westley which they held until stoppage time.
Barrow started with two trialists in the opening line-up and brought a third one on later.
