Cleator Moor Celtic followed up a fine win at Rossendale with a convincing 4-1 victory at home to Wyre Villa.
This success moved Celtic up to ninth in the table and left the visitors bottom of the West Lancashire League without a point so far.
Yet it was the Villa who took a shock lead in the first minute when a back pass was short and Owen Bridge nipped in to score.
It took until the 23rd minute for Celtic to level through James Bell and although it was still all square at the break, the home side really dominated the second-half and scored three times without reply.
Kieran Maguire made a difference with his quality from set pieces and it was from one of his deliveries that Owen O’Neill poked home in the six yard box four minutes into the second half.
Then on the hour James Bell, who worked his socks off all game, broke down the right and a perfect cross was collected by Adam Smith on his chest before he slotted it past the Villa goalkeeper.
After 72 minutes Smith turned in mid-field, spotted young Ben McCarron making a run down the left, and found him with a perfect pass. McCarron was left one on one with the keeper and slotted home the fourth goal.
Celtic coach Stuart Shaw said: “Dene and myself couldn’t be happier with the lads performance, except the first ten seconds of the game which was just down to individual errors that costs us the goal.
“The lads still stuck to the game plan, didn’t panic and got a grip of the game pretty quickly.
“It was important to keep playing football the way we know the lads can play and not get frustrated even though we had levelled up and had a goal disallowed.
“After a good talk at half-time we came out and dominated the game. The back four were a lot more solid getting us on the front foot and playing with the intensity we expect them to play with. We scored three brilliant goals in the second half to give us the three important points we wanted.
“I fully understand it’s only two games we have been in charge and we won’t let any of our players get carried away with results as I know how quickly things can change in football.”
