Kendal Town stayed six points clear at the top of the NWCounties Premier Division after a 3-1 win at Cheadle Town.
They had got off to a flying start courtesy of an early goal from top scorer James Bailey.
He was well positioned at the far post to head in a pinpoint cross from Ryan Winder after ten minutes.
They had dominated the first-half but had to wait until the 39th minute to score their second goal.
Steve Yawson was brought down on the edge of the area after a clever run and from the free kick Winder curled a beauty beyond the stationary keeper.
Although they started well in the second half Kendal suffered a set-back on 51 minutes when Martin Pilkington headed a goal for Cheadle to put them back in the contest.
However, the two goal cushion was restored on 61 minutes after Bailey had been bundled over in the area. Skipper Rob Wilson was able to make it 3-1 from the penalty spot.
There were no more goals and for the last 20 minutes Kendal were able to bring on their latest signing Jacob Gregory who has joined from AFC Blackpool.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “He is a player that a number of clubs have been looking at so we consider it good business to get him into our squad.
“We haven’t a big squad and there’s a lot of football still to be played. It’s nice to be six points clear but there is a long way to go.
“Everything has been going nicely and I have to say that it’s great that everyone at the club is pulling in the same direction, something that hasn’t happened for a long time.”
Kendal are back in action on Tuesday night at Colne, who have dropped down from the NPL West Division and are lying tenth in the table.
However they had a decent result yesterday with a draw, 2-2 at third-in-the-table Chadderton. In actual fact it could have been better because early in the second-half they led 2-0.
