
Shrek: The Musical has been cancelled this week at the Sands Centre.
It was due to run at the Carlisle venue from today, September 5, until Sunday, September 10.
But the venue has been forced to cancel after reinforced autoclaved aeriated concrete was found to have been used in the centre’s auditorium.
Over 150 schools in the country have been affected by the issue after the Government changed its guidance on the lightweight material, used between the 1950s and 1990s.
Cumberland Council reviewed its public buildings and said RAAC was present in the standalone events centre, forcing it to close it for further assessment.
