The hand-over of Penrith’s new Frenchfield pitch is scheduled for Monday, but the Northern League side will have to wait longer to play on it.
Chairman Billy Williams said: “Although that’s the official hand-over date we have to wait another fortnight before we can actually play games on it. We will be able to train but not play.
“But of course then we find we have a run of three away games so it’s looking as though the reserves will get a game on it before we do. I think the first team will get their chance to play on it against Bransty in a Cumberland Cup tie.
“It’s a bit ironic that after playing all our games away when we do get the chance to play on the nerw pitch our fixtures are all scheduled to be away.
“It’s going to be an impressive set-up when it is complete and we are looking forward to progress the club when we get it opened and ready for use.”
Williams hadn’t been so happy with the side’s performance on Saturday when they went down 1-0 at Crook Town.
Manager Darren Edmondson was best man at his brother’s wedding so missed the encounter and certainly wouldn’t have enjoyed his side’s performance.
“I think Crook were one of the poorest Northern League sides I’ve seen so it was especially disappointing to loser to them.
“We didn’t create anything and to be brutally frank if it hadn’t been for goalkeeper Aaran Taylor it would have been a heavier defeat,” said Williams.
Penrith are back in action on Saturday at Guisborough.
