A big weekend for Workington Comets’ teenage star Luke Harrison starts tonight at Redcar.
Harrison, 16, has been drafted in to Sunday’s NDL Riders Championship at Northside as replacement for absent team-mate Connor Bailey.
But tonight he will be alongside Bailey when the pair ride for Redcar Bear when they start their Cab Direct Championship play-off programme at home to Oxford.
The teams are scheduled to meet twice in three days with the return fixture taking place at Cowley on Sunday when Harrison will be riding in the Championship meeting at Workington.
Bailey will also be missing as he will be riding in Poland for his Wroclaw team in a major club final.
For tonight the Bears call in one ex-Comet for another as Kyle Howarth replaces the injured Charles Wright, whilst Harrison again stands in for Jake Mulford. The Cheetahs, who defeated Glasgow in their group opener, name a full-strength side.
Redcar’s Jason Edwards said: “It will be nice to start our play-offs at home and hopefully we can start off on the right foot against Oxford.
“Nevertheless, wherever we are, we just need to score points to try and win as many meetings as possible to top the group.”
