Barrow Raiders suffered a second successive defeat on Saturday night when they lost 24-8 at Widnes.
They had trailed 8-0 at half-time after seeing little of the ball in the first half but were still very much in the contest with 10 minutes to play, trailing 14-8.
But both sides were down to 11 players in the closing stages, with Luke Broadbent and Shane Toal in the bin for Barrow.
Widnes did best with the open spaces and ran in two more tries through Tom Gilmore and Max Roberts in the last seven minutes, one of them converted by Richardson.
Ryan King (46) and Curtis Teare (70) had scored the Barrow tries, both of which were unconverted.
The other Widnes tries came from Nathan Connell (8), Jack Owens (38) and Gilmore (62).
It doesn’t get any easier for the Raiders as their next fixture next Sunday is at Oldham currently third in the Championship table.
