A Kendal man has been charged with three offences – including use of a vehicle to kill a wild bird – following a police investigation.

Jeffrey Hayton, 57, of no fixed abode, has been charged with arson (not endangering life), use of a vehicle to kill a wild bird and breach of a Community Behaviour Order – an order placed by a court to reduce antisocial behaviour and wider offending.

It follows an incident in the area of Stricklandgate, Kendal on 14 October 2023.

Hayton appeared before the South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court and following an initial not-guilty plea, is due to appear before Carlisle Crown Court on 13 November 2023.
