Carlisle roads will close to traffic for five days so it can be improved.
Work will start on Scotby Road to the junction with Park Road in Durranhill from Monday until Friday.
There will be a full road closure along Scotby Road and Park Road, with a diversion route along Montgomery Way from 8am to 4pm.
People are warned that access may be intermittently affected at times throughout the work.
If residents or businesses require access to their property, people need to discuss it with the traffic marshal who will be on site during the work.
