Bury, who visit Kendal tomorrow in the North West Counties Match of the Day, have suffered a setback.
The club has been unsuccessful in an appeal to overturn the three point deduction, and £100 fine, for fielding an ineligible player at the start of the season.
Glossop North End have also launched their own appeal and as a result Bury will replay the fixture at a future date to be confirmed, in addition to the three point deduction.
The rules do not allow the three points Bury lose to be awarded to them, so this is their only opportunity to benefit from the situation.
Bury said: “We do not intend to charge season ticket holders to attend this rearranged fixture, subject to league approval. As previously stated we are disappointed at the outcome, but keen to move on and continue our promotion push.”
It means leaders Bury now have a six points advantage over third-placed Kendal but the Mintcakes have three games in hand.
In between the pair Wythenshawe are four points adrift of Bury but also have three games in hand.
Kendal have sold out for tomorrow’s game with a 1,400 crowd in Parkside Road. The ground capacity is more but Kendal feel safety is the main issue and they have fixed the limit at the right level.
Earlier in the season Kendal produced a superb performance, when they were heading the table themselves, to win 3-2 at Gigg Lane.
