Help improve men’s mental health services in Cumberland

A project to discover if men’s mental health is still surrounded by stigma has been launched.

Healthwatch Cumberland’s Men’s Mental Health project needs people to come forward to share their own experiences or those of a friend or family member.

Engagement officers will be out and about over the coming weeks and visit groups to conduct focus groups.

Anyone with a story to tell can also get in touch with the team to organise a more in-depth sit-down chat about their experiences for a case study.

Healthwatch Cumberland will use the information it gathers to share good practice and make recommendations to decision-makers on what could be improved.

Senior communications and engagement officer Gareth Cavanagh said: “This project is an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health and do our bit to normalise seeking support when you need it.

“All responses will be anonymous so you can tell us as much or as little as you would like and we urge everyone to have their say, all perspectives on the issue are valued and appreciated. “Your voice could make a huge difference to services in your area!”

If you have a story to tell and would like to organise a case study, you can contact Healthwatch directly at [email protected] or call 0300 303 8567.
