Barrow moved into the play-off positions with another very good away win – this time 2-1 at Bradford City.
It was a disappointing result for experienced Graham Alexander who was taking charge of Bradford for the first time.
A goal 13 minutes from time by defender George Ray gave Barrow the win, extending their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions.
It could hardly have started any better for Pete Wild’s men as they went ahead after only 30 seconds as Dom Telford got on the end of a clever cross from Kian Spence before firing home.
There should have been an immediate response from the home side but Tyler Smith side-footed straight at the Barrow keeper Paul Farman from inside the six-yard box.
But it was Smith who did put City level on 33 minutes when he had a simple task in netting from close range from Jamie Walker’s low cross.
Barrow were close to regaining the lead early in the second half but home keeper Harry Lewis kept out s good effort from Robbie Gotts.
At the other end Farman made a very good point-blank save to deny Emmanuel Osadebe and then the Barrow keeper turned round the post a low drive from Alex Gilliead.
It was against the run of play when Ray smashed in the winner, being in the right position to finish after sub Jamie Proctor had seen his effort blocked.
