Workington scored three equalisers at Guiseley but fell to a seventh goal which decided this NPL Premier Division clash.
The 4-3 defeat represented another frustrating afternoon for manager Danny Grainger, but he acknowledged the effort put in by his players.
“It’s frustrating because we seem to be getting punished for every individual mistake we make and it’s costing us.
“I can’t fault the players’ effort. I thought they gave everything but it’s these errors that cost us today and have cost us in the previous weeks.
“Since the Marske game we have had two weeks in which there have been some great training sessions and some honest opinions expressed.
“We are only going to get out of this poor run by sticking together and I expect there will be a positive attitude when we get back to training on Tuesday,” said the Reds boss.
Guiseley, managed by former Carlisle United player Andy Welsh, got the right start when they scored on four minutes through Gabriel Johnson.
But 10 minutes later Workington levelled with a really good move which ended with the goal from Steven Rigg.
The home side regained the lead after 23 minutes when Aiden Walker netted but almost on half-time Reds were level again when Jamie Devitt scored his first Workington goal from the penalty spot.
Incredibly Guiseley went straight down the other end and regained the lead again with a Johnson penalty.
For the third time Workington came back and skipper Dav Symington knocked home a third equaliser.
There was to be despair for the Reds on 70 minutes when Johnson completed his hat-trick and try as they may the Cumbrians couldn’t fashion a fourth equaliser.
Reds now face the prospect of three more away games before they return to Borough Park on December 2.
