Two events to remember lost loved ones will be held in aid of Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
Light Up a Life events, organised by the charity, will be held in Whitehaven and Millom, providing an opportunity for people to come together.
The first event will be held at Whitehaven’s Solway Hall on Sunday, November 26 at 3pm.
The Light up a Life event at the Solway Hall will include poems, readings and performances from Hospice at Home staff and volunteers.
There will be moments of reflection and candles will be lit during the event to mark the dedications made in memory of loved ones.
There will also be a remembrance video where messages and pictures of loved ones will be displayed for the duration of the event.
At St George’s Church, Millom, on Sunday December 3 at 3pm, the Light up a Life event will include readings, choir performances and moving prayers.
There will be moments of reflection where the lights on the Christmas tree will be switched on to mark the dedications made in memory of loved ones.
Marketing and income generation team leader Gemma Bell said: “Our Light up a Life service is for everyone, not just those who have received our care.
“Across our county, different people, cultures, and faiths have ways to remember loved ones, all different but all with their roots in memory and the importance of not forgetting those we knew and loved.
“We know how important Light up a Life is for many people, and we hope that our events provide some comfort to those who need it.”
To dedicate a light at one of the Light up a Life events, visit the charity’s website at www.hospiceathomewestcumbria.org.uk and create a personal dedication on the Light up a Life event page or request a dedication form from the charity by emailing [email protected], or calling 01900 873173.
To have a loved one’s name(s) displayed in the book of lights, or included in the remembrance video then all dedications must be either returned to Hospice at Home or completed online by Wednesday November 22. Any dedications made after this date will be available to view on their website.
The Book of Lights will be available to see at both events whereas the remembrance video will be displayed at the Solway Hall event.
