
Two second half goals earned Cleator Moor Celtic an excellent 2-0 home win over Rossendale in the West Lancashire League.
Apart from a 20 minute spell when a useful Rossendale side were dominant, Celtic had the better of things in the first half but couldn’t fashion a goal.
The breakthrough came in the second half after 69 minutes when Darren Johnston did well, breaking up play and then playing in James Bell. He took on a couple of defenders before slipping the ball through to Ellis Trotter who his shot home.
Although on top for the rest of the game there as always the danger of as breakaway Rossendale goal and Celtic didn’t make the game safe until the 90th minute.
It came from a Trotter corner that was flicked on against the post from where it fell invitingly for Bell to hammer home.

Manager Stuart Shaw said: “I couldn’t be anymore proud and delighted for my players. It was the complete performance.
“We has started badly the week before but this time we were on it from the first whistle, created three or four great chances which on another day would have ended up in the back of the net.
“We just had to manage the second half and we did that by taking the game to them and I felt like they couldn’t live with us for the last 35 minutes.”
Celtic follow up at home this Saturday to Hurst Green. The Hoops are up to sixth in the table with the visitors 13th, some ten points in arrears.
