Barrow Raiders have completed the signing of Toulouse Olympique forward Ellis Gillam on loan for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Gillam, 28, is no stranger to Barrow supporters, having previously joined the Raiders ahead of the club’s first season back in the Betfred Championship in 2022.
He went on to score nine tries in 71 appearances, establishing himself as a key member of Paul Crarey’s forward pack over three years when he was also an integral part of the club’s community work.
He left the club following the conclusion of the 2024 season, in order to take up a full-time opportunity with French side Toulouse.
Featuring 16 times for the club last season, he has gone on to make five further appearances from the bench in 2026 following Toulouse’s promotion to the Betfred Super League.
Gillam’s loan move back to Barrow includes a recall option in favour of his parent club.
“I’m excited to get back involved with the group, who have been playing some outstanding rugby throughout the season,” he said.
“It’ll be nice to see a few familiar faces, and hopefully play my part in helping the club enjoy a successful end to the year.”
Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey said: “It’s great news for the club that fan favourite and local lad Ellis has returned to the club until the end of the season.
“Ellis was fantastic in his time with us the first time around, with his form earning him a full-time contract with Toulouse. Ellis hasn’t been getting the regular game time he wants, and despite better offers from other Championship clubs, he has decided to give his all for his hometown club.”
A product of the Warrington Wolves Academy, he had senior experience with Rochdale Hornets and Whitehaven before joining Barrow.
