A pensioner has admitted that his careless driving resulted in a cyclist being badly hurt in a West Cumbria road collision.
Allan William Locke, 83, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today.
During a short hearing in front of Judge Michael Fanning, Locke faced one charge.
He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to the man, now aged 39, by the careless driving of a Peugeot 406.
This follows a collision on the A595, in the Egremont area, on December 22 last year.
The cyclist’s injuries are said to have included broken bones, cuts, bruises and concussion.
Locke’s case was adjourned by the judge, who directed that a probation service pre-sentence should be prepared before the defendant is formally sentenced.
Locke, of Ponsonby, near Seascale, was bailed and is due to receive his punishment at the crown court on December 11.
