Six people charged with drug offences in Cumbria after police raids

Six people have been charged with drug offences in Cumbria following several police raids.

Officers have arrested seven people and executed multiple warrants across Greater Manchester and Cumbria as part of the force’s continued activity to disrupt organised crime groups involved in county lines drug dealing.

The raids were built on a joint policing operation involving Cumbria Police, North West Regional Organised Crime Team and Greater Manchester Police.

Warrants were executed at addresses across Oldham, Rochdale and Barrow-in-Furness as part.

Brandon McGuire, 24, from Barrow in Furness, has been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs to include Heroin, Crack Cocaine and Cocaine 

Jackson Young , 20, from Barrow in Furness has been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. He has also been charged with possession with intent to supply Cocaine and possession with intent to supply Ketamine  

Gregory Bell, 46, from Barrow in Furness has been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs

Shamim Hussain, 28, from Oldham has been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs

Tamzin Saywell, 19 from Barrow in Furness has been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs

Sarah Kolsuma Sadiq, 29, from Rochdale, has been charged with the following offences Conspiracy to supply class A drugs   

The seventh person arrested, who is from Manchester, has been released under investigation.

Saywell, Hussain and Kolsuma  are due to appear at Preston Crown Court on December 15 2023.

Bell, McGuire and Young are due to appear at Furness and District Magistrates’ on the December 20 2023.

Detective Inspector Jamie Eaton said: “The activity over the course of this week is another example of how Cumbria will relentlessly target those involved in Serious and Organised Crime. 

“I would like to thank the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit, Greater Manchester Police and the National County Lines Coordination Centre for their support throughout the operation.

“We continue to ask the public to be our eyes and ears and report any suspected drug supply activity to us so our teams can investigate.

“I would urge anyone affected by drug use or suspected county line drug dealing to contact police on 101, or contact services such as Unity or The Well or other providers.”
