Creighton earned high praise from their opponents Wigton after being beaten 106-0 in their Counties 1 Cumbria clash at Lowmoor Road.
The Carlisle side, who had beaten Wigton in the opening game of the season, had horrendous injury problems and at some points in the game were down to 11 or 12 fit players.
David Warwick, the Wigton coach, although pleased with his young side’s performance, said: “Credit must be given to Creighton who battled to the end of what was a tough afternoon for them.
“We have a young side gaining confidence all the time and looking to exploit space at every opportunity.”
Wigton had beaten League leaders Carlisle a week earlier so there will be plenty of interest in the week-end County Cup clash (2pm) at Lowmoor Road when they take on the city side again.
Despite the heavy conditions against Creighton the Greens moved the ball exceptionally well at times, with tries shared throughout the team.
Country Style Windows, who sponsored the afternoon, chose 18-year-old full-back James Paisley, who scored three tries, as their man of the match.
Another pleasing feature was 17-year-old forward Bruno Studholme racing from over 40 metres for his first try in senior rugby displaying his huge potential.
But the biggest cheer of the day followed a try by powerful Romanian winger Razvan Cosmins who has just moved to the area and signed for the club.
Earlier in the day the Wigton Colts hosted Ashington and Gosforth and continued their good run of form in the North East/Cumbria League, notching another victory by 19-5.
Despite being played in challenging conditions some of the skill levels on show were very impressive and the pathway to senior rugby should not trouble them after this showing.
