
Carlisle United Football Club have now officially confirmed that following EFL approval, the ownership and control of the club has changed.
The new owners of the club are Castle Sports Group, owned by the Piatak family from Jacksonville, Florida, USA.
A club statement said: “We offer them a huge Cumbrian welcome to Carlisle United.
“Everyone associated with the club is delighted and looking forward to a long and successful future together.”
First game under the new owners will be Saturday’s League One clash at Brunton Park against Charlton Athletic.
It’s sure to be a big occasion, warmly welcomed by the club’s supporters who are expected to provide a bumper crowd to welcome in the new era.
Manager Paul Simpson has stressed in the build-up to the announcement that his players must play their part in the new dawn.
“I’ve told them that there are exciting times ahead. I want to be part of it and I want the players to show that they want to be part of it,” he said.
The current owners are moving aside after just over 15 years in charge.
