Emergency service volunteers honed their life-saving skills in an exercise in West Cumbria.
West Cumbria Search and Rescue, coastguard teams from Whitehaven, Maryport and Burgh-by-Sands took part in the exercise, organised by Maryport Rescue, on the River Derwent and in Workington.
A spokesman from West Cumbria Search and Rescue said: “It was designed to test the collaborative working of all agencies involved.

“There were main scenarios that unfolded across two locations throughout the afternoon and into early evening. One on the River Derwent and one coastal/land at Northside Workington.
“Each scenario had two casualties, with appropriate assets co-ordinated to locate, access, stabilise and extricate the casualties ready for onward transportation to the next level of care ie hospital.

“It was a fantastic day of multi-agency working and one that helped all teams hone in on both their individual specialist skills and wider as one big team.”
