
Emergency services were called out in the early hours after a potential gas leak was reported in a West Cumbrian retirement complex.
One person, from Stafford Court in Cleator Moor was taken to hospital after feeling unwell and concerns were raised by hospital staff about potential carbon monoxide poisoning.
Police were contacted at around 2.40am today.
A spokesman said: “A thorough emergency response was undertaken with Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and Northern Gas Networks carrying out checks for carbon monoxide at all flats at Stafford Court.
“There were no levels of carbon monoxide identified following extensive checks being completed. Whilst the checks were carried out, four people were evacuated for a short time as a precaution.
“This incident underlines the importance of ensuring your home has working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms which enables quick detection and ultimately can save lives.”
