A 12-year-old girl was taken to hospital following a collision involving an unmarked police car.

It happened yesterday, Monday December 4. at around 3.35pm on Bridge Street in Workington.

The youngster was taken to hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, Cumbria police said, which is routine with collisions involving a police vehicle.

Ramsay Brow was closed in both directions during the incident, with traffic backed up from Derwent Howe through the town centre to the A66.
