An Ulverston spirits producer and visitor attraction has teamed up with a local hospice to launch a special Hospice Heroes limited edition gin.
St Mary’s Hospice and Shed One – based just half a mile from each other – have teamed up to sell the gin with all profits going directly to the hospice.
An initial release of just 100 bottles are available to buy from St Mary’s Hospice with a possible further batch planned in the New Year. The hand distilled gin comes in fully recycled glass bottles topped with natural wax seals and has its own bespoke branded St Mary’s Hospice label featuring the signature forget-me-not logo.
Zoe Arnold-Bennett, co-owner and founder of Shed One, said: “We were delighted to team up with St Mary’s Hospice to offer a gin to help them raise both awareness of the hospice and the services they provide, and of course, much-needed funds.
“They are a crucial part of the South Lakes community, and we’re proud to help look after our own and do everything we can to support them in their provision of care, comfort, and support across our area.
“We always enjoy collaborating with charities and other businesses to offer something different and to help them reach wider audiences. We really hope the Hospice Heroes Gin will resonate with people who have experienced the work of the hospice and raise lots of money at the same time. We’ll definitely be raising a glass or two to toast our hospice heroes this Christmas and new year!
Annabelle Holloway, corporate relationship manager at St Mary’s, said: “It’s a real privilege for us to work with such a well-known local company in Shed One. They’re known for the quality of the drinks they produce, just as we’re known for the quality of the care we give, so it really is a perfect blend.
“We only get around one fifth of the funding we need each year from the Government, which means we have to raise the rest ourselves and eight out of every 10 patients we care for has their care funded by our local community. The great thing about supporting us is that every penny that’s given to us stays right here in South Cumbria and is used to help local people.
“We think Hospice Heroes Gin would make a great Christmas present, and it’s sure to prove a winner with gin lovers and our supporters.”
