The best performances in the Cumbria Region during the 2023 season were honoured at a presentation event in Workington.
The region president Jimmy Nelson of Flimby presented the awards in the Union Jack Club.
They recipients were as follows:
- A & K Young, Millom, winners of categories for Channel, Combined Old Bird and runner-up OB Inland.
- I & D Wood, Harrington, runner up Channel category
- John Devlin, Harrington, winner of OB Inland category
- Mathew Varty, Flimby, Tattersall Blacklock Friendship trophy for service to the sport.
- Rodgers & Benn, Cleator Moor, runner-up YB category
- Wilson, Son & Johnston, Workington, winner of Young Bird category.
Cumbria might be out on a limb as far as pigeon racing is concerned but time and time again county fanciers put up performances which are akin to anything else in the country.
