After an extended break of nearly seven weeks, initially due to postponements and then the festive season, Workington Zebra Finches eventually return to action this evening, writes John Hastings.
They will take on Penrith Falcons under the lights at Winters Park (Kick-off 7.45pm) in RFU League 2 North.
Workington will be aiming to complete the double on Penrith, having edged a tough 15-12 success last October at The Ellis – which was also under Friday night lights.
Tonight’s match is the start of seven fixtures in as many weeks for The Finches, who are in the frame for silverware on three fronts – as well as the RFU League 2 North, the RFU Community Plate (won at Twickenham last season) and the new Cumbria Women’s Cup.
However, Workington will certainly not be thinking of any trophies or medals just yet – indeed, not by a very long chalk – because their fierce determination to get each game done efficiently continues to hold strong and true as it has during the season.
