A Ford Transit flatbed van was set on fire near Carlisle.
Police are investigating the arson, which took place close to Westlinton, north of Carlisle, on Tuesday January 2 at about 1pm.
Two fire crews from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service tackled the blaze.
The vehicle had been stolen from the Yorkshire area and had been brought into Cumbria between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage of the incident.
