Carlisle continued their drive towards the Counties 1 Cumbria title with a 40-3 win at Keswick 2nds.
It was virtually won by half-time with Carlisle enjoying a 33-3 advantage but the weakened home side dug deep to perform with great credit in the second-half.
The home side actually opened the scoring with a Steve Holloway penalty kick, but Carlisle were dominant in the scrums, and quick to punish Keswick’s mistakes.
As a result Lloyd Clark went over for three tries, with one each for Robbie James and Jake Whittaker, while the impressive Jason Israel kicked four out of five conversions.
After the break, Keswick fought back and put Carlisle under real pressure, and the second half was scoreless for 30 minutes until a late try from Jamie Blakely and a Vince Lung conversion wrapped-up the game.
Carlisle march on but great credit for the Keswick side for the way they responded in adversity.
