Two leading county non-league sides are without a fixture tomorrow.
Workington have a blank afternoon in the NPL Premier Division while Penrith have no game in the Northern League First Division.
Reds boss Danny Grainger will be looking to bounce back after last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at leaders Radcliffe with two home games coming up on January 20 and January 27 against Warrington Rylands and Whitby Town.
Darren Edmondson has his Penrith side scoring goals for fun at the moment so probably would sooner be in serious action rather than on the training pitch tomorrow afternoon.
Penrith’s Northern League neighbours Carlisle City will continue their push for a top five place when they host Heaton Stannington at Gillford Park.
City beat West Allotment Celtic 5-3 in mid-week while Stannington were 4-0 winners at a revived North Shields.
Jim Nichols, the City manager felt his side had played really well against West Allotment but was disappointed to let in goals in the 87th and 91st minutes which altered the complexion of the scoreline.
In the North West Counties Premier Division Kendal Town are off to Anfield – well, the Anfield Sports Community Centre in Liverpool where they take on Lower Breck.
The hosts are nine points and five places behind Kendal in 10th place with a 10-9-9 playing record.
The Mintcakes will be playing for the first time since it was announced manager Jimmy Marshall has signed a new contract extension with the club.
It’s a partnership which has flourished over the last 18 months and looks as if it will continue to be successful and take Kendal to where they want to be.
In Division One North Holker Old Boys have a home game against Route One Rovers.
In the Wearside League there’s a trip to South Moor for Windscale as they try to improve sixth place in the table against a side who are fourth bottom.
The West Cumbrians are currently seven points behind leaders Darlington Town from the same number of games. Both have 19 games left so plenty of time for a change in standings.
Both our West Lancashire Premier Division sides have home fixtures with Cleator Moor Celtic hosting third in the table Fulwood and Whitehaven entertaining bottom side Wyre Villa who only have a point to their name.
While Whitehaven will be looking to get back to winning ways against the strugglers, Celtic boss Stuart Shaw will want a performance from his players after being particularly scathing about them in last week’s defeat at Hurst Green.
