Cumbrian plasterer apprentices have been recognised at national industry awards.

Two apprentices at Carlisle College were nominated for categories and the college itself was nominated in the small college/training provider of the year in the Plastering and Interior Trades Training Awards.

The awards, held in the prestigious Plaisterers Hall in London, was a gala event attracting some of the largest employers and major college groups from across the whole country.

Deniss Fridenbergs was runner-up in the apprentice of the year category and Eddie Celmins was runner-up in the student of the year award. Carlisle College was also named as a runner-up.

Deniss is an apprentice plasterer studying at Carlisle College and Eddie is a full-time student at Carlisle College and studies in its construction faculty.

Vicky Stafford, business engagement manager at Carlisle College, said: ‘This national recognition is testament to the hard work of our learners and the entire team at Carlisle College.

“We are incredibly proud to be part of the success learners on both our full-time and apprenticeship programmes have achieved, as well as being recognised ourselves as a leading training provider.

“These awards demonstrate the great careers and achievements that can be made at Carlisle College; we were delighted with the result.”
