Storm Jocelyn set to arrive in Cumbria this week

As Cumbria is still dealing with the aftermath of Storm Isha – Storm Jocelyn is set to arrive hot on its heels this week.

Hundreds of people across the county are without power – with many facing no electric for at least the next day-and-a-half as weather conditions have made it unsafe for Electricity North West teams to carry out repairs.

Bad weather is set to continue this week, with weather warnings for rain and wind in force for tomorrow and Wednesday.

Tomorrow, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain from 11am until 7pm.

It said an area of rain is expected to sweep across this region, becoming heavy and persistent on some south facing hills. 40-60mm could fall in the space of six hours, accompanied by strong winds.

A yellow weather warning for wind will come into effect from 4pm tomorrow until 1pm on Wednesday.

A spell of strong winds associated with Storm Jocelyn is expected to develop across this region during Tuesday afternoon, peaking overnight into Wednesday morning, before easing across most areas by noon.

However, winds are likely to remain strong across and just to the east of the Pennines until early Wednesday afternoon. Peak gusts of 45-55mph are likely inland, perhaps 65mph on some exposed coasts.
