
It was a busy weekend of action in the Cumberland County League with both league and cup fixtures being played.
In the Benevolent Cup semi-final, Division One outfit Cockermouth travelled along the A595 to Premier Division side Wigton Harriers.
It was the home side who booked themselves a final spot after winning the tie 2-1 thanks to goals from Liam Lightfoot and Tom Hill. Luke Graham was Cockermouth scorer.
Wigton will play Maryport Athletic in the final after a Logan Bosward brace gave Maryport a 2-1 victory against Whitehaven Miners Social. Lewis Park netted the Miners goal.
In the Premier Division, goals from Richard Hudson, Wayne Iredale, Andrew Trestianu and Dale Gebbie fired Aspatria to a 4-1 win against Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves. Ryan Hall netted Celtic’s only goal of the afternoon.
Gosforth got their fourth win of the season after a 3-1 victory against Workington Reds Reserves.

Rhys Singleton, Jordan Livingstone and Byran Todd provided the goals for Gosforth and it was Chad Grisdale who found the back of the net for the Reds.
In Division One, Alan Sim bagged himself four goals as Bransty Rangers beat Whitehaven Miners Social Development 5-0 with Ryan Cornish grabbing the other goal.
Dearham United welcomed Silloth to Pottery Park and it was the home side who took all three points with a 3-0 win. Danny Manchester, Kyle Adlard and Matthew Oglanby were all on the scoresheet.
In the second weekend in a row, Windscale Reserves and Whitehaven AFC Reserves met with Whitehaven getting all three points from a 2-1 win.

A Kieran Frazer goal had Windscale leading 1-0 at the break before second half goals from Shane Tyson and Shaun Carter made sure that Whitehaven were victorious once again.
The match between Mirehouse and Keswick was postponed due to an unplayable pitch.
On Tuesday evening, Premier Division outfit Unisun Athletic travel to Borough Park to face Workington Reds in the Fred Conway Cup quarter final, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
