A spectacular sound and light show will take place in St Bees next month.

Space: God, The Universe and Everything will take place at St Bees Priory on March 14 and March 15.

Part of the Light District series – which this year also includes Crown and Coronation in Carlisle – it is being brought to the village with the support of Cumberland Council’s Destination Management team and produced by Luxmuralis.

Tickets are £4 and are available to buy online at discovercarlisle.co.uk

Tickets are also available to buy in person, at Carlisle’s Tourist Information Centre, The Beacon Museum, Whitehaven and St Bees post office.

There will be time slots between 6.30pm and 9pm each evening.

Councillor Anne Quilter, of Cumberland Council, said: “Following the success of Carlisle City of Lights, more areas within Cumberland will form part of a series of events called The Light District.

“The St Bees Priory is an ideal location and will the latest location to host an event of this type.”

The St Bees event is organised with the support of St Bees School, St Bees Parish Council and Sellafield Ltd.

Doug Sim, of St Bees Parish Council, said: “This will be the kind of dynamic light show that has never been seen in West Cumbria before. The 900-year-old priory will look stunning.”

The Light District builds on the success of Carlisle City of Lights and Workington Hall Lights over recent years.
