A skills fair, organised by Workington MP Mark Jenkinson, will be held this month in the town.

Over 50 exhibitors are set to take part in the event at the town’s leisure centre on February 8 between 3pm and 7pm.

Exhibitors include Gen2, Energus, CLEP, Sizewell C, Inspira, the University of Cumbria, SP Training, JTL, Lakes College, and Persimmon.

For the first time, the free event will include a CV writing workshop, run by Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.

Mr Jenkinson said: “I am thrilled that we have been able to bring the skills fair back to Workington. It was a big hit last year, and exceptionally well attended.

“This event is bigger and better than its predecessor, with a much wider range of exhibitors taking part. It will showcase the plethora of opportunities that are out there in terms of career development, training, and jobs.

“I am very grateful for the support shown by businesses, training providers, and sponsors without whom this fantastic event would not have been possible.

“We may all have different skills, but we share common goals: to raise aspiration; to attract and nurture talent; and to help businesses, apprentices, and employees achieve their potential.

“Anyone who is serious about their future should pop in: there really will be something for everyone.  I know that job seekers and exhibitors alike benefitted hugely from last year’s skills fair.”
