A West Cumbrian preserves producer is celebrating being among the best in the world for its marmalades.
Cumbrian Coastal Kitchen, run by Clare Walker, was awarded a silver award for its lemon and lime marmalade and bronze for its Seville orange and whiskey line in the Artisan Marmalade Awards.
The judges were impressed with the marmalades’ appearance, colour, consistency, aroma and flavour.
The firm’s products were up against around 3,000 entries from over 30 countries, including Taiwan, Lebanon, Australia, Czech Republic, USA and India.
The jars are judged by an expert panel including head judge, Jane Maggs, founder of Wild & Fruitful, chef Koj, Dan Lepard, Fortnum & Mason grocery buyer Holly Warren and buyer for Highgrove Syrie Gwyn Palmer.
Clare said: “We are so pleased to have won these awards against such strong competition from all over the world. We have been making our marmalade for four years and have always thought that it is some of the best marmalade we’ve ever tasted, so it’s nice to have the award to prove it!”
