Barrow’s game with Bradford City at Holker Street was called off about an hour ahead of the scheduled kick-off time.
The Bluebirds say they believe the pitch was playable and are to make an official complaint to the EFL.
An estimated 900 Bradford fans had travelled; City players had stayed overnight and Barrow’s hospitality facilities were fully booked.
Barrow said in a statement: “We’re very disappointed to announce that the match officials have called the Sky Bet League Two match against Bradford City off.
“We believe the pitch is in a playable state and are extremely disappointed by this outcome.
“A rearranged date for the fixture and ticket information for that match will be released in due course.
“Following this matter, we’ll put a complaint towards the EFL.”
