A paraglider has died after he crashed in the Lake District.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said police received several calls from walkers who saw the paraglider crash near Foule Crag on Blencathra on Sunday.
The team was called about 2pm and the Great North Air Ambulance and Coastguard helicopter airlifted members to near the location.
The team said: “RAF Mountain Rescue Service were training in the area and also responded. A doctor and Keswick team member were lowered to the paraglider pilot but unfortunately nothing could be done to save the man.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences go to the man’s family and friends.
“He was a well known figure in the lakes paragliding community, and a friend to a number of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team members.”
A tribute to the man has also been paid by the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
