Members of the LGBTQ+ community are invited to find out more about how they could change the lives of vulnerable children.
LGBTQ+ Adoption & Fostering Week returns next week and two events are being held in Cumbria for people to find out more.
Organised by charity New Family Social, the UK’s peer-support charity for LGBTQ+ adopters, foster carers and special guardians, Cumbrian Fostering is one of 120 fostering and adoption agencies nationwide supporting the campaign by urging members of the LGBTQ community to find out more about fostering at our upcoming events.
The events in Cumbria will take place:
- On Monday March 4 – An information stand will be set up at Kendal Library from noon to 2pm
- On Friday March 8 – A drop-in session will be held at Costa Coffee in Whitehaven’s Market Square from noon to 2pm
They offer the chance for people to speak to the team and existing foster carers. There is no need to book.
Councillor Emma Williamson, executive member for children and family wellbeing, said: “Cumbria Fostering service is proud to support LGBTQ+ Adoption & Fostering Week again this year and we hope that by doing so, we can reach even more people across the county who can join our fantastic team of foster carers and help give vulnerable children and young people the best start in life.”
