A Cumbrian hotel is on the market for £2.95 million.

The Shap Wells Hotel, originally built in 1833, was first put on the market in 2022 for £3.85 million.

Now the specialist hotels team at commercial real estate firm Colliers is selling the freehold of the 108-bedroom hotel with restaurant and lounge bar.

The distinctive hotel also includes two conference suites with capacity up to 180-covers and sits within 15 acres of land.

Staff accommodation is also close to the main building.

The current owners bought the property in 2004 and it has been successfully run by a general manager and quality staff team for the last two decades.

It has a three-star Cumbria Tourist Board classification, and welcomes a high volume leisure visitors every year, as well as business trade.

Julian Troup, head of hotels agency at Colliers, said: “The Shap Wells Hotel is an impressive hotel which overlooks the Birkbeck River and has an established history of providing quality accommodation for tourists looking to explore the nearby Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Scottish borders.”

Colliers has sold 60 hotels and associated hospitality businesses in the county of Cumbria since the beginning of 2021.

Julian added: “The hospitality sector in Cumbria has been in high demand, particularly in the wake of the pandemic staycation boom.

“The Shap Wells Hotel has been competitively priced and we’re anticipating significant interest in the opportunity.”
