The Lakeland Festival of Light has been postponed due to the weather.
The event, due to take place on Saturday at Catbells, will now take place in August.
Organisers issued a warning ahead of the event because of the poor weather forecast. Saturday has 50mph winds forecast, with rain.
The event sees thousands of people climb mountains by torchlight.
Last year, over 2,500 people attended and since it was launched eight years ago, it has raised £75,000 for six charities.
Organiser Matt Le Voi said: “It is of course exceptionally gutting to announce that we will not be running the festival this coming weekend. The forecast has not improved, and the announcement of a named storm has confirmed what will be a very sensible decision.
“There is so much that goes into this event, and I’m so very proud of it. What we achieve is beautiful, and with thousands of pounds being raised every year, it is without a doubt life changing for beneficiaries of the charities we support.
“The event also acts as a showcase for what my company Lakeland Mountain Guides can achieve, and one thing we are good at is keeping people safe in the mountains. This event is far above our appetite for risk due to it’s nature, and of course the strong winds.
“We will be trying again on Saturday August 17 2024, with many of the details being largely the same. Hopefully many of you will be able to join us then to support The Michelle Jurd Trust, and if not then, maybe for the festival in 2025.
“Thanks to everyone who was coming to support this weekend. For those of you who are still visiting the area, I hope you have a fantastic time enjoying the area and supporting our many hospitality venues.
Finally, a huge thanks to our sponsors, photographers, raffle donors and partners for coming along on this ride, and for being ready for take two.”
