There’s been a very special Easter training camp in Maryport this week for young, aspiring rugby league players.
Former Super League player Wayne Godwin, and his team from Elite Kids Coaching, worked with youngsters from Broughton, Seaton, Aspatria and hosts Maryport.
Simon Pattinson, one of the Maryport coaches, said: “It’s been a fantastic two days with Wayne and his team working on ball skills, fitness and general rugby league fun. It was great to see how much enjoyment and enthusiasm was generated among the kids.
“It’s sessions like this which we hope will make Allerdale a hotbed of rugby league for years to come.”
Godwin, now 42, was a hooker who had over 250 games at the top level and his pro career included stints with Castleford, Wigan, Hull, Bradford and Salford. He scored 47 tries and kicked 56 goals.
