
A Carlisle man has been jailed for a racial attack at the city’s bus station.
Paul Metcalfe, 46, of Greystone Road, was sentenced yesterday for racially aggravated assault and criminal damage to a police van.
The incident happened in July last year at Carlisle’s bus station, where Metcalfe subjected a woman to an unprovoked racial abuse and an assault causing no injury.
Metcalfe was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison and must pay the victim compensation of £250. He must also pay £100 compensation to Cumbria police for damage to the van.
