Whitehaven have confirmed that Huw Worthington will be a member of Jonty Gorley’s squad for the remainder of the 2024 Betfred Championship season.

Having initially signed on a month’s trial Welsh international Worthington has impressed on all three appearances coming off the bench and will now remain in chocolate, blue and gold until the end of the season.

Head coach Gorley said: “It’s great news for us as he’s the type of player I like. He is no-nonsense and has got a fantastic engine on him.

“He played against Featherstone and I nearly rang him that night but I thought, no, give him an extra week to get him to know the lads better. We played the week after and again he was good.

“I phoned him after the York game and he wasn’t expecting to talk about it about until the end of the month but we needed to get him sorted and gladly he accepted and he will be with us until the end of the season.”
