A former Carlisle United loanee is the subject of much transfer speculation north of the border.
Elliott Watt is 26 now but back in 2020, on loan from Wolverhampton, the young midfielder played 12 games for Carlisle and scored one goal.
He later played for Bradford City (87 league games), Salford City (82), Burton Albion (25) before moving north of the border on loan with St Johnstone (8).
In June last year he signed for Motherwell on a two year deal and in the season just gone has blossomed under manager Jens Berthel Askou.
He was one of Askou’s star men last season, playing a pivotal role in implementing the former manager’s style of play.
Rangers were said to be interested during the January transfer window while Celtic and Cardiff City have also been impressed by his form.
But the two offers that have been reported came from the Turkish side Samsunspor but both have been rejected as Motherwell value the player at £3 million.
Watt made a total of 42 appearances for Motherwell last season, notching six goals and providing three assists.
Although Preston-born, he has represented Scotland at Under-17s, Under-19s and Under-21s levels.
