Staff at Cumbrian-headquartered housebuilder Story Homes have helped raise £44,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Staff at Story Homes selected the charity as their partner for the 2023/24 financial year and workers across the business – which has regional offices in Carlisle, Newcastle and Chorley – carried out fundraising activities to raise money for the charity, ranging from golf days and bake sales, to raffles and dress down days raising £22,000 for the cancer charity.
Thanks to Cancer Research UK’s Double the Impact match funding scheme, this equated to £44,000 raised for life-saving cancer treatments.
Story Homes said it will continue to support Cancer Research UK for another 12 months.
Hayley Blair, sales and group marketing director at Story Homes, said: “We are delighted to have raised £44,000 for an extremely worthwhile charity.
“Cancer is a cause that’s close to many of our hearts as one in two of us will get cancer in our lifetime; but by supporting Cancer Research UK, the funds that we have raised will help it to carry out our pioneering research to help beat cancer.
“Over the past two years we have made great progress in raising awareness of this awful disease and understanding the impact it has on people’s lives; we are therefore delighted to be continuing our partnership for another 12 months.”
Nicky McKenna, Cancer Research UK relationship manager, said: “The dedication of Story Homes’ employees has really been outstanding, and we’d like to sincerely thank them for their time and kindness.
“It’s both exciting and promising that Story Homes has selected us, for the third year in a row, to be their charity partner 2024/2025.
“Their passion and commitment will empower Cancer Research UK to make even more progress, in the coming year, creating a world, where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.”
