Please come along and meet two rescue donkeys from Barnhill Donkeys Retreat at Shap Farmers Market.

We are very proud to have been invited to take two of our rescue donkeys to Shap Farmers Market on Saturday, June 22, between 9am and 1pm.

The retreat is open to the public between 10am to noon Monday to Friday there is no charge to visit – the donkeys love visitors.

It has rehomed 104 donkey in pairs since the retreat was set up in 2012 – and there are a number of animals who will always stay at the retreat.

At Shap Farmers Market, you’ll have the chance to say hello to the donkeys and help support us.

There will also be a stall selling unique and unusual donkey items and gifts.

Urgent help needed

We have had to start buying haylage as hay has become scarce, due to the wet spring farmers have had to keep their livestock inside for longer, this has led to a hay shortage

Feeding haylage is costing £6.50 per bale and we are feeding two bales a day – a total of £91 per week.

Please help us if you can – you can donate via our website at https://www.barnhilldonkeysretreat.co.uk
